Bitmain Antminer L3+ (Litecoin SCRYPT Miner)

Antminer L3+ Miner

The Antminer L3+ is the ASIC-based 2nd generation offering from Bitmain supporting the SCRYPT hashing algorithm.  This algorithm is primarily used in mining for Litecoins, there are a number of other SCRYPT supported cryptocurrencies that support this protocol, including:  Gulden, Verge, Digibyte, Auroracoin, GameCredit and the famous Dogecoin.  Before Bitmain's entrance into in the SCRYPT market, KNCMiner was a major player in this mining hardware segment for the launch of the L3 miner series.  KNCminer's Titan series was their first ASIC miner that supported SCRYPT with a major jump in hashing performance.

The L3 series is an even more significant jump in performance.  The L3+ is clocking in at over 500 Mh/s at only 800 watts per miner. One of the nice things you get with the magic 800 watts power draw number, is that when you run them at 208 volts or higher, you can fit four L3+ miners on a single 20-amp circuit.  That is a pretty big deal for large miners and crypto hosts.  People who handle large amounts of miners know that utilizing the most amps from your circuits is critical for infrastructure efficiency.  Four units per breaker makes this a good fit for doing co-location.   With these types of numbers, it is clear this will become the bulk of hashing power for the Litecoin network.  This still  have the same standard design you have gotten since the Antminer S7.  It is shorter than the S7 & S9.

Same basic parts will need serving over time, this include: Front & Back fans, hashing boards, control board and rarely PSU.  These are easy units to breakdown and I could fully service a unit within 10mins.  Overall these are great mining units.
